The Ontario Public Supervisory Officials’ Association is the professional organization representing 300 superintendents and directors of education from the thirty-one English language Public District School Boards of Ontario. OPSOA advocates for public education as a fundamental right of all students in Ontario.
This web site provides information on the activities of the senior leaders in public education. Included is an overview of the association, its publications, and general contact information. Also, you will find links to other key education associations.
The section of this site accessible by members contains association news, minutes of meetings of the board of directors, provincial planning information, programs and strategies, course materials and connections with other education partners.
OPSOA is a vital organization whose network across Ontario assures the positive leadership of public education.

Ken Bain assumes OPSOA President role for 2011-12
HWDSB’s Associate Director takes on role September 1st

Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board’s (HWDSB) Associate Director, Ken Bain, has been elected as the new Ontario Public Supervisory Officials’ Association (OPSOA) President for 2011-12. Ken assumes his duties as president on September 1.

Ontario Public Supervisory Officials Honour Outstanding Leaders
At the annual Ontario Public Supervisory Officials Association (OPSOA) conference in April 2011, two OPSOA members were presented with the Distinguished Leadership Award. This award is presented annually to Supervisory Officials who demonstrate outstanding ability and leadership in public education. 
The 2011 recipients are Helen Fox, Superintendent of Schools, York Region District School Board and Robert Dunn, Superintendent of Schools, York Region District School Board.
Both of these individuals have demonstrated exemplary leadership in public education at the district and provincial levels.

New Supervisory Official Program
Phase 2: Wednesday, April 25th, 2012 The Sutton Place Hotel, Toronto
This two phase workshop is essential to a successful transition into the role of Supervisory Officer. Topics include: Preparing for the S.O. role, the Interview, Developing a Portfolio, Mentoring, Obtaining Credentials (S.O.Q.P.), Role of OPSOA re Contracts and Professional Development and much more... Phase 1 took place in October 2011.

Ontario College of Teachers' Sixth College Council Election, 2012
The Ontario College of Teachers is now accepting nominations for 23 elected positions on our governing Council. Council members play an important role in the work of the College and in shaping Ontario's teaching profession.
Council members can make a difference in many ways:
- influencing the classroom readiness of new teachers
- ensuring that Ontario teachers have ethical and practice standards that influence the quality of teaching our schools
- playing an active role in reviewing Additional Qualification course guidelines and issues concerning teacher qualifications
- making decisions on the annual budget and the membership fee that supports the College's work.
