Assistant Superintendent: Human Resources - Grande Prairie and District Catholic Schools

Applications are invited for the position of Assistant Superintendent: Human Resources for Grande Prairie and District Catholic Schools. Duties will commence August 1, 2013 or as mutually agreed.

The Candidate

Working effectively with and reporting to the Superintendent, the selected candidate will have successful, broad-based administrative experience, hold a Masters degree and qualify for an Alberta teaching certificate.

An innovative and effective instructional leader with high energy, a strong Catholic faith, and a commitment to serving in a geographically diverse area will find this an exciting leadership opportunity. Highly developed instructional leadership, communications, and interpersonal skills are required. The successful candidate will be a team player with a strong work ethic who understands, respects and can actively support the roles of Superintendent and the Board, and a data-driven decision-making model.

Responsibilities

Duties will include ensuring the policies and assigned administrative procedures are effectively implemented. Responsibilities include the full range of Human Resources tasks which are defined in Administrative Procedure 461 on the District website.

The Assistant Superintendent: Human Resources will keep sufficiently informed about all district operations in order to assume the functions of the Superintendent during the Superintendent's absence.

Director of Education and Secretary - Greater Essex DSB

The Greater Essex County District School Board is seeking an outstanding educator and principled leader to become Director of Education. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a Board committed to student success, staff excellence and parent/community involvement.

This progressive school system has over 36,000 students drawn from a geographic area which includes the City of Windsor, Essex County and Pelee Island. The Board operates 76 schools (59 Elementary and 17 Secondary), with a staff of 4600 and an operating budget exceeding $390 million. Director of Education and Secretary - Thames Valley DSB

The Thames Valley District School Board is seeking an outstanding educator and leader to be appointed Director of Education and Secretary, effective September 01, 2013.

This school board is one of the largest in Ontario and has over 70,000 students in 162 (134 Elementary and 28 Secondary), 19,500 students in Adult and Continuing Education programs, with a staff of over 8,000 and an operating budget exceeding $741 million. The Board serves the City of London as well as the Counties of Elgin, Middlesex and Oxford.

The Director of Education and Secretary serves as the Chief Executive Officer and reports to a Board of 15 Trustees, including 2 Student Trustees, as well as leads a team of 14 Supervisory Officers. The Board is seeking a Director of Education who will further its success while ensuring excellence in leadership, learning, school improvement and management.

Educational Superintendent of Elementary Schools - District School Board of Niagara

Located in the heart of wine and orchard country and in close proximity to the stunning Niagara Falls, the DSBN provides exemplary educational programs and services to students in the Regional Municipality of Niagara.

The District School Board of Niagara (DSBN) is seeking a dynamic and dedicated educational leader for the position of Educational Superintendent of Elementary Schools beginning September 2013.

The successful candidate will:

  • demonstrate expertise as a strong instructional leader;
  • have the ability to motivate, lead and supervise an area of elementary schools;
  • promote systematic use of assessment data to improve learning;
  • have proven ability to develop the capacities of staff by building on their strengths;
  • have understanding of and ability to facilitate Network Learning Communities;
  • demonstrate superior leadership ability, communication and organizational skills, and proven commitment to student success;
  • work in partnership with a team of dynamic system leaders;

Superintendent of Education - Halton DSB

The Halton District School Board serves approximately 60,000 students in Halton Hills, Milton, Burlington and Oakville, with administrative offices in Burlington. It has approximately 8,000 employees with an operating budget in excess of $600 million.

The Superintendent of Education reports to the Associate Director and is responsible for a family of schools.

The successful candidate will have superior academic, interpersonal and communication skills and will be recognized for their expertise in curriculum and instruction. He or she will have demonstrated leadership qualities and experience as a contributing member of a leadership team with a strong desire to serve schools. The successful candidate will have proven abilities in community and parent relations.

Assistant to the Executive Director: PUBLIC CODE

This role has provided support to PCODE in many ways such as: Provincial Lobbying in areas of budget, special education and ethical review; reports on Gender Issues and Children's mental; Health; expansion of coaching and mentoring; and professional development.

Role Description

  • Facilitate the development of position papers, projects, proposals and reports;
  • Assist in the coordination and agenda development of all Public CODE Meetings;
  • Assist in the development of training, coaching, mentoring and counseling programs and resources.
  • Provide other assistance as required.

Compensation

  • A daily rate for services provided, up to a maximum agreed upon with the executive director, plus expenses;
  • The successful candidate will report to the Executive Director of Public CODE.

Timeline

  • The position will begin August 1, 2013 and is for one year renewable.

Selection Process

  • A committee of three (3) current Directors on the Executive Committee, or at large, will facilitate the interview and selection process in conjunction with the Executive Director of Public CODE
